Joomla is one of the most powerful website building platforms, but even then, it does not come with ready-to-use SEO features. Those who have been in the world of website development and search engine optimization for some time know why it is not feasible. SEO strategy for your website should fit like a glove. Therefore, each website master needs to define his SEO campaign and choose his strategy. There is no way a pre-defined and ready-to-use strategy can work similarly for two websites.
Why is SEO different for each company website?
Your choice of on-page and off-page strategies will depend upon the purpose of your website and source of the target audience. For example – Websites for local businesses need to rank higher for the locations they serve rather than meet global SEO requirements. The SEO strategies will also largely depend on the kind of search engine the majority of your target users are relying on. All in all, the main aim of your search engine optimization campaign should be to increase your brand’s overall visibility. It is very easy to lose focus inside the digital maze, but you must always remember to stay noticeable in front of your target users. It is very easy to forget brands that do not stay on the first page of the search engine SRL.
What makes Joomla the leader of business website builders?
Joomla has all the tools and tactics a brand can need for establishing their market online. Do you want to establish a new brand? Do you want to launch a new site? Don’t worry; this website builder has everything your brand needs to command a new and dedicated customer base. It is one of the new-age website builder platforms that keep evolving with the changing times. Unlike several other platforms, it keeps pace with the Google algorithm changes that fuel search engine SRL diversity. Whether it is readying sites for mobile first indexing or changing the structure of URLs, Joomla has it covered for the long haul. How can you keep up with the new Google algorithm changes?
Joomla! 3.8 has brought a few new features into the game. The new sites are capable of supporting the new router and its URLs. As a result, the new admins can enjoy a more flexible interface that allows the easy creation and processing of URLs. The end users receive more options since the search engines and the new router from Joomla! 3.8 relate to the URL display system. Right now, it is possible for any user to set up the router configuration in any of the three given configurations –
- The new routing system that does not include the content Ids.
- The new routing system without any changes in the URLs.
- The old (current) routing system that remains the default choice for all new installation, until further intervention by the website admin.
Let us check out how the old and the new URLs differ. This will give us a thorough understanding of the changes Joomla! 3.8 has introduced to the routing system.
A current Joomla URL:
A new Joomla URL:
In case of the former URL, you will notice the numbers 99 before the “article-alias” tag. It refers to the article ID number. Nonetheless, 99 has little meaning to the human user and the exceedingly humanized search engine bots. The latter sample of an equivalent URL is from the new 3.8 routing system. The new routing system removes the article ID number, and that results in cleaner and more human-friendly URLs.
Why does Joomla take so much effort to introduce new updates?
Google has a strict preference for cleaner URLs that are legible and understandable. Therefore, websites with complex URLs with a lot of IDs, serial numbers, and random characters do not find space easily on the front page of the SRL. This is a lesser-known tactic many webmasters use to keep their web pages visible irrespective of the website builder. Joomla just makes it a lot easier by offering an update to automate the process.
- To enable new URLs just log into your Administrator account with Joomla.
- Then select Content and Articles.
- Next, Click on Options.
- Follow this up by clicking the “Integration” tab.
- Check “Experimental” concerning URL routing.
- Select “Yes” against Remove IDs from URLs option.
- Do not forget to save before closing.
Interestingly, all Joomla! 3.8 users can now enable this feature for their Articles, News Feeds, Users, and Contacts. Follow the same steps after going to the “Options” and “Integration” tab for each case.
Although we have been waiting for this new URL feature for quite a long time, it is not yet perfect for the older versions of Joomla. It is not a compulsory update. You can use your current (old) URL version with confidence as well.
